Pool Builder in Sullivan County, NY

Custom fiberglass and gunite pools, serving Sullivan County since 2004

Coastal Pools & Spas has been designing and building pools for Sullivan County homeowners since 2004 — over 20 years of experience across fiberglass, gunite, and custom pool projects. Sullivan County sits in the Catskills, with a mix of lakeside and rural wooded properties, and we scope each project to the specific site rather than a generic template.

What We Build in Sullivan County

Fiberglass and gunite are our two most common pool types, though we also build semi-inground, vinyl liner, and indoor pools for specific projects.

Fiberglass Pools

A pre-formed shell arrives ready to set. The shell placement itself is often completed in about two days once the site is prepped, while the rest of the project takes longer. Fiberglass shells carry a lifetime warranty. Faster installation and lower routine maintenance than gunite.

Gunite Pools

Built and shaped on-site over a steel frame, using a cement, sand, and water mixture. Allows more custom shapes and features, but takes longer to complete and needs periodic resurfacing over time.

Our Installation Process

The steps vary slightly by pool type, but most projects follow this sequence:

Site consultation to review your yard, goals, and budget

Pool type and design selection suited to your property

Permit paperwork support and scheduling with your local municipality

Excavation and site preparation, or shell placement for fiberglass

Plumbing, electrical, and equipment installation

Water fill, balancing, and a full homeowner walkthrough

Frequently Asked Questions

How long has Coastal Pools & Spas been building pools in Sullivan County?

We've been designing and building pools since 2004, with over 20 years of experience across fiberglass, gunite, and custom pool projects for homeowners throughout Sullivan County.

Should I choose a fiberglass or gunite pool?

It depends on your timeline, budget, and design goals. Fiberglass generally installs faster and needs less maintenance, with the shell backed by a lifetime warranty. Gunite allows more custom shapes but takes longer and needs periodic resurfacing.

Do you offer pool types other than fiberglass and gunite?

Yes. Alongside fiberglass and gunite, we also build semi-inground, vinyl liner, and indoor pools for specific projects, depending on what fits your property and budget.

How much does a pool cost in Sullivan County?

Cost depends on pool type, size, site access, equipment package, and decking materials. We provide an itemized quote after a site visit.

How long does it take to build a pool in Sullivan County?

Timelines vary by pool type. Fiberglass installations are typically completed within a few weeks once permits are approved. Gunite construction includes curing time between stages, so the schedule usually runs longer.

Does Coastal Pools & Spas handle permits for pool projects?

In most cases, yes. Our team can help with local permitting requirements and coordinate the paperwork and inspections that are part of the project timeline. Specific permit rules vary by municipality within Sullivan County.

Do gunite pools need resurfacing?

Yes, over time. The interior finish wears gradually and typically needs resurfacing at some point during the pool's life. See our swimming pool resurfacing page for details.

Can a pool be built on a lakeside or wooded Sullivan County property?

In most cases, yes. We evaluate access, grading, and site conditions during the consultation and adjust the plan accordingly. Some sites need additional drainage or clearing, which we'll flag upfront in your quote.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From the initial consultation, my wife and I were so impressed with Alex, we discussed many different design ideas that we didn’t think were possible, he LISTENED to what our needs were instead of dictating the way “it should be” which is what many other contractors we interviewed said. Turns out it was the easier path to take for them but not the best for us.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We began this journey in April 2023 with a less-than-stellar pool contractor. After reversing course, we ended up hiring Coastal Pools based on a neighbor’s referral, that ended up being a fantastic experience. We appreciated Alex’s honest insight and assistance throughout our process and could not be more pleased with the professionalism of the team. After researching the various manufacturers of pools, it was clear that the design, engineering, and quality of a fiberglass pool from Coastal Pools is superior to the other options available in our area and carries the best long-term warranty. If you are thinking about putting in a fiberglass pool, I highly recommend Coastal Pools. They have been courteous, professional and responsive to all our questions and concerns.
