Gunite Pools in Rockland County, NY

Custom gunite pool construction, serving Rockland County since 2004

Coastal Pools & Spas has built gunite pools for Rockland County homeowners since 2004 — over 20 years of experience with this construction method. A gunite pool is built and shaped on-site, using a steel-reinforced structure sprayed with a cement, sand, and water mixture, which gives you more design flexibility than a pre-formed shell.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to build a gunite pool in Rockland County?

Gunite construction includes curing time between stages, so the overall schedule typically runs longer than a fiberglass installation. The exact timeline depends on your design, permitting, and weather.

How much does a gunite pool cost in Rockland County?

Cost depends on pool size, shape complexity, interior finish, site access, and equipment package. We provide an itemized quote after a site visit.

Do gunite pools need resurfacing?

Yes, over time. The interior finish wears gradually and typically needs resurfacing at some point during the pool's life. See our swimming pool resurfacing page for details.

What finish options are available?

Common interior finishes include plaster, pebble, and tile, each with different textures, colors, and price points. We go over options during the design consultation.

Can a gunite pool include waterfalls or an infinity edge?

Yes, on properties with the right site conditions. We evaluate what's feasible for your specific yard during the design consultation.

Can a gunite pool be built on a sloped Rockland County property?

In many cases, yes — gunite's on-site construction gives more flexibility to work around slopes and drainage than a pre-formed shell does. We evaluate this during the site consultation.

Does Coastal Pools & Spas handle permits for gunite pool projects?

In most cases, yes. Our team can help with local permitting requirements and coordinate the paperwork and inspections that are part of the project timeline. Specific permit rules vary by municipality within Rockland County.

Can I add a spa or tanning ledge to a gunite pool?

Yes — spas and tanning ledges are both common additions on gunite projects, since the on-site construction makes it easier to build them directly into the design.

Should I choose gunite or fiberglass for my Rockland County property?

It depends on your timeline, budget, and design goals. Gunite allows more custom shapes but takes longer and needs periodic resurfacing. See our fiberglass pool builder in Rockland County page for a comparison.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From the initial consultation, my wife and I were so impressed with Alex, we discussed many different design ideas that we didn’t think were possible, he LISTENED to what our needs were instead of dictating the way “it should be” which is what many other contractors we interviewed said. Turns out it was the easier path to take for them but not the best for us.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We began this journey in April 2023 with a less-than-stellar pool contractor. After reversing course, we ended up hiring Coastal Pools based on a neighbor’s referral, that ended up being a fantastic experience. We appreciated Alex’s honest insight and assistance throughout our process and could not be more pleased with the professionalism of the team. After researching the various manufacturers of pools, it was clear that the design, engineering, and quality of a fiberglass pool from Coastal Pools is superior to the other options available in our area and carries the best long-term warranty. If you are thinking about putting in a fiberglass pool, I highly recommend Coastal Pools. They have been courteous, professional and responsive to all our questions and concerns.
